Pro Tools Utilities

These are a couple macros that might be useful to others. I don't know Java so these are just simple macros using the built in functions. Made with Pro Tools 2020.12.0. Should work with HD and Standard

  • 2 Mono Tracks -> 1 Stereo Track - Often when receiving files I encounter a stereo file that is on two mono channels. For this macro to work, first select both mono tracks then run the command. It copies the audio, then creates a new stereo audio track, waits for you to name the new track and hit return, then pastes the audio to the new track and brings up the Delete Tracks dialog. I have chosen not to automatically accept deleting the track just to give my self a chance to make sure nothign went wrong and it is deleting the correct tracks.

  • Alternate Pans** - ** This macro sets the select track pan to -100 (L) then moves to the next track and sets the pan to 100 (R).

  • Batch Fades - Fade Preset 1 - This macro selects all audio on the selected track, brings up the batch fade window, selects Fade Preset 1, hits ok and then restores the previous selection. So save your desired batch fade settings into the Fade Preset 1 slot within the Batch Fade window for this to work.

  • Stereo Track -> Mono Track - This takes a stereo audio track, splits it into mono, names it appropriatley, and deletes one side and the original stereo track. Note that this is only inteded for a stereo track that contains identical audio on the L and R sides since it deletes the L side. You might notice that one step in the macro renames the orginal track appending an "A" to the end. This is so the R split mono track can be renamed to match the original stereo file name. It needs to reanme the track before deleting the other tracks since when the other tracks are deleted the track selection dissapears. Again I have chosen not to automatcially accept the Delete Track dialog box, just to give myself a chance to double check what the macro is deleting.
