For how long have you been using SoundFlow?

I started using SoundFlow in 2020.

Can you share some projects that you’ve used SoundFlow on?

Some of the audio post production projects I'm involved with are the Portuguese versions of:

  • The Traitors
  • MasterChef
  • Hells Kitchen
  • The Voice
  • The Masked Singer

Can you describe how SoundFlow has improved the way you work?

Almost every aspect of my work has changed and improved greatly with tools I design using SoundFlow. Session prep, editing, automation and printing mixes with optional deliverables, etc. Then making and sending music cue sheets. At every step SoundFlow has a part in it.

Some examples:

  • SoundFlow knows how to find the master tracks in my session and rename them to the session/program name (1 click).

  • SoundFlow performs a "Save as", incremented the version number and adding the operator name. (1 click).

  • SoundFlow finds the print tracks in the session, asks me which ones I want to commit, waits for the commit to finish, organises the clips on my work tracks, processes the LUFS levels (if they are masters), renames all the clips, and exports them (with 2 clicks). With an options to perform each step separate.

  • I don't need to look to see if the AudioSuite plugins I use all the time are open, I just press a button and SoundFlow will ensure that the plugin is open . It will then set all my desired AudioSuite plugin settings, process the clip(s) and add crossfades to the start and end of the clip(s).

  • And with many other big or small workflows, SoundFlow gets me there with a few clicks.

SoundFlow has become a tool for other aspects of my work I never considered possible before. If I need a simple app, I'll make one. Probably not perfect but good enough and for my specific case, and I don't need to change the way I work, instead it works around my workflow.

Can you describe how much time you save with SoundFlow?

I can confidently say that I save two or more hours every day. Clicking wise and looking for the smallest possible button for a menu in pro tools, 90% saved. But the most significant gains, I feel, are in brain energy. I no longer waste time searching for and remembering buttons and menus in Pro Tools, or the order of the workflow... what is this item called or what is the nomenclature for the file name. Instead I'm thinking, "Is this EQ good enough?", "Can I mix this better?" while SoundFlow is running a workflow.

Tell us about a feature in SoundFlow that excites you.

The forum is an awesome resource. Searching for a solution works really well. And if I can't find it, someone will help very fast.

Why would you recommend SoundFlow to others?

SoundFlow has an increasing number of pre-made apps, and macros that makes finding what you need very simple, as a starting point. From there, you can customize the automations. The forum is an excellent tool for this. All of this can be achieved without needing to know or understand any coding.
