Plugin Finder

Plugin Finder

In an effort to solve what should be a feature built-in to ProTools, this script aims to speed up the process of trying to locate tracks within a session of whatever plugin you search for. It's particularly useful for hunting down tracks that have missing plugins, inactive states or tracks with UAD plugins that are disabled where neither ProTools or the plugin manufacturer provides any useful information about what tracks contain the offending instance.

Features

There are 2 versions included in this package - Simple & Advanced.

Simple searches the session for all possible plugin matches based on what was entered in the prompt by user regardless of their Active or Inactive state.

Advanced offers you the option to search for Active or Inactive instances of plugins, which is ideal for sessions with missing plugins.

In most cases the Simple script is best as it's less fussy with insert states.

How To

Launch the script, type in as much of the plugin name as possible (i.e. if you're looking for 'UAD EMT 140' you can simply type 'UAD 140' or '140' etc).

The script will then scour the ProTools session for whatever plugins match what was queried in the prompt and select the tracks based on the criteria. Pretty. Cool.

Please note on big, big sessions containing a lot of plugins this could take a while, so be sure to observe the soundflow icon in the taskbar to determine if the script is still active (blue)

Known Issues

There are a few limited search queries that when using the Advanced script it won't find inactive instances only, it's tied to only a few unique combinations of letters and words.
