SynQR's Friend

In conjunction with SynQR, this package allows for a more convenient video offset adjustment process in Pro Tools. Simply set the video sync offset in Pro Tools by long tapping on the value history in SynQR.

SynQR and Pro Tools Workflow

**SynQR **is an iOS app that allows real-time measurement of AV sync errors. From version 1.2.2 onwards, it can send its measurement values to the system clipboard. A Mac connected to the iOS device via Handoff can access this clipboard.

SynQR's Friend "listens" to the system clipboard and, if it detects SynQR's value history in the clipboard, triggers a workflow that sets Pro Tools' video sync offset based on this data.

Set Up

  • Enable Handoff and iCloud: Make sure both your iPhone and your Mac have Handoff and iCloud enabled and are using the same Apple ID.

  • Test Handoff: Test Handoff by copying text from one of the standard apps like Notes or Mail on the iOS device and pasting it into some text field on your Mac.

  • Start SynQR's Friend: It will run in the background and "listen" to the system clipboard. It times out after 10 minutes or is quit by quitting SynQR on your iDevice. You can also trigger the "StopSynQRFriend" script to stop it.

How to use

  • Import Test Video: Import the SynQR test video that matches your required video format to your PT timeline and run a number of measurements.

  • Stop Pro Tools.

  • Copy Value History: Long tap the values in SynQR's value history and wait for the "Value History Copied..." screen.

  • Set Video Sync Offset: After a few moments, SynQR's Friend will activate and set Pro Tools' video sync offset according to the value history. Repeat this process until you are satisfied with the result.

  • Quit SynQR: Quit SynQR to quit SynQR's Friend.

How do I get SynQR's Friend?

SynQR's Friend  is a package built on the SoundFlow platform. To get it, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign up as a new SoundFlow user if you don't already have an account.

  2. Install the SoundFlow app on your Mac.

  3. Open up the SoundFlow app, click the "Store" tab

  4. Locate the 'SynQR's Friend' package by searching in the search field.

  5. Click the Install button.
