Beat Detective
Does all the Beat Detective work for you based on preset settings. Select an area, run a preset and its done!
A basic Beat Detective script that uses Normal Detection mode, Enhance Resolution and Sub-Beats
Users can create presets that modify Analysis settings, Conform settings, Triplets and whether Fill Gaps or Fill and Crossfade are used
To Operate:
Make sure a group of all drum tracks is created and named in the preset (eg. DRUMS)
Make sure a second group defining the tracks to be used for analysis is created and named in preset (eg. BD). This group is selected for the analysis process and should be modified depending on the drum performance being processed. For example, if the section contains a groove with Kick, Snare and Hihats, ensure the 'BD' group' contains only these tracks. For a tom oriented groove, add only the Toms, Kick and Snare tracks to the BD group. Best practice is usually to have only direct mics included and no overheads or rooms.
Select an area in ProTools to be Beat Detective'd. Best practice is to select between beat 1 of two bars. (eg. 1|1|000 - 9|1|000). Other beat values may result in conforming errors. Additionally make sure selection is not across Meter changes or Tempo changes.
Triplet fills should be processed separately with the Triplets option set in the preset.
Take note of clip edits before processing - these will likely have errors that need to be corrected after processing
